"Everything we do, we do with enthusiasm - and we do it for life!"

Danger recognised, danger averted - gases and vapours are almost always dangerous! If gases are not present in the atmospheric composition we are familiar with and can breathe, safe breathing is at risk. Whether DrägerTubes or portable gas detection technology - Dräger offers you individual solutions to detect Ex - O2 - Tox - hazards and protect human life, systems and the environment.

Your advantages:

  • more than 70 years of experience in the development of gas measurement technology
  • cost-efficient solutions adapted to operational needs
  • Precise matching of instruments and sensors through in-house production
  • short delivery times
  • special longevity: up to 5 years warranty
  • personal advice

Dräger sampling tubes and systems

With the Dräger sampling tubes and systems, the hazardous substances contained in the air are first enriched on a suitable medium by adsorption or chemisorption. The sample is then analysed qualitatively and quantitatively in the laboratory using instrumental analysis. For example, the Dräger X-axt 5000 (see item no.: 144148) can be used as a sampling pump. Price does not include the evaluation by the Dräger Analysis Service.

Examples of use:

Active sampling of volatile organic compounds from air in working areas, indoor spaces and environmental areas as well as from contaminated soil in connection with a soil-air probe. The air is sucked through the collection medium with a pump. Depending on the collection medium, the following substances and substance groups can be adsorbed (examples):

Carrying out the sampling:

The sampling conditions must be selected according to the measuring task, taking into account the applicable regulations such as TRGS 402, BGI505, IFA workbook, DFG Luftanalysen Volume 1/2. The air sample can be taken at a fixed location (stationary) or by a person.

Follow the instructions for use of the sampling pump!

  1. Check that the sampling pump is working properly according to the instructions for use.
  2. Break off both tips of the sampling tube in the tube opener.
  3. Insert the sampling tube tightly into the pump or connect it to the pump with a piece of tubing. In case of personal measurement, insert the sampling tube into the tube holder and connect the tube to the pump (the printed arrow points to the pump).
  4. Set and check the flow rate at the sampling pump.
  5. Place the sampling system at the measurement location or, in the case of personal measurements, attach the sampling tubes to the clothing in the tube holder in the inhalation area and start the pump.
  6. Record sampling conditions (volume flow, start of measurement, temperature, humidity, air pressure, possible interfering components, etc.) and note them in the sampling protocol.
  7. After sampling, close the sampling tube tightly with the enclosed polyethylene caps and document the end of the measurement, sampling duration and the aspirated sample volume in the sampling protocol.
  8. during transport and until preparation for analysis, the sampling tubes must be stored in such a way that falsification of the analysis results is avoided (observe maximum permissible storage times!)

Analytics:

The adsorbed substances are analysed according to laboratory procedures. Dräger Safety AG & Co. KGaA offers an analytical service for the examination of loaded sampling tubes (please request a service quotation from Dräger Analysentechnik, 23560 Lübeck).

Intended consumption time:

Unused and sealed sampling tubes can be stored indefinitely.

Description:

The sampling tubes consist of a collection layer and a control layer. During sampling, the hazardous substances are adsorbed in the collection layer. When the absorption capacity is exceeded, the hazardous substances enter the control layer (breakthrough). A breakthrough occurs when more than 10 % of the hazardous substance quantity found in the collection layer is detected in the control layer. The volume flow and the sampling time must be selected depending on the other sampling conditions (air composition, humidity, temperature) so that no breakthrough occurs.

Depending on the measurement task, the air volumes to be aspirated should be in the following ranges:
- 0.1 to 1 litre when sampling soil air in contaminated soils,
- 1 to 50 litres for sampling in working areas,
- 100 to 500 litres when sampling indoor air,
- 1 to 20 litres when sampling exhaust air.

The following Dräger-Tube pumps can be used for taking the air sample:

- Dräger accuro (order no. 64 00000),

- Dräger X-act 5000 (order no. 45 23 500).

Follow the instructions for use of the Dräger-Tube pump (leak test).
